hey, just came back from a chemnitz art festival called begehungen (slightly translated walks). the story of this festival is quite easy; chemnitz a rather poor city in eastern germany hat once a shopping mile called “brühl”. when gdr collapsed a lot of banks and other expensive groups came there and occupied everything. because there was no way to earn money the banks leaved – and the shopping mile practically dead. once in a year the estate agency rents the buildings for free to young artists to make the “begehungen” and bring old flavor back to this beautiful place. this years motto was “occasion”.

and here is the first :)

festival was just great, even with worst weather possible. favourites? oh; of course Jeans Team and madsen. never listened to them before; as their albums are usually a bit childish; but life its just great. very cool swedish stuff came also from Friska Viljor and sir simon battle. the always-all-people-being-proud band Polarkreis 18 was boring (or at least their music did not fit into the lineup next to them)..
also funny: hoyerswerda (small city in eastern saxony right next to the festival) is invaded by some sprayer crew spraying “dinos” everywhere, e.g. dinomaniac; dino likes this…

someone who’s analog photostream on flickr i find quite interesting is aleksey seliverstov from near of moskov. you’ll find him here and on his website. his blog is in russian; so at least i cannot read it. his photographic style follows an art which gets quite seldom the last days, a sense for the getting right the motive and a complete non-attention for unnecessary digital equipment. mixing altogether a beautiful melange comes into being. enjoy it.
impressive are some people series like “marina”

or one of his first shoots, a abandoned car 1992 zelonograd at soviet time:

definitly some style worth to be followed…
